Blueberry muffin
Inspired by the airy texture and contrasting colors of a blueberry muffin - my favorite childhood treat. The background is a cloudy blue, with a dark purple round shape sitting in the middle. The overlaying pattern is inspired by Polish cross-stitching tradition.

The story behind this painting
Blueberry muffins have been my favorite treat since childhood. There's an airiness to the dough once you break it open, and the blueberries are always scattered through it in a way you can't predict - never quite the same pattern twice.

The process
The painting is built in layers - cloudy blue background created with a sponge, a purple round shape in the middle with a texture pressed with the embroidery canvas; on top, a pattern of yellow and purple X shapes.

Cross-stitching
The inspiration for the pattern comes from cross-stitching - a technique I learned as a child from my grandmother. Both cross-stitch and painting rely on the same repetition - one small shape, placed over and over, until a pattern builds up across the surface.
